Death #2

Still in Redridge, but now 22, I pulled a single Blackrock Renegade. Another player ran past, and then BAM I had two other mobs on me. Man, those warlock-type mobs hurt. I trapped the additional Renegade, but took way to much damage from the caster and imp. I'm going to chalk this one up to strange pathing and transferred aggro >.<

Level 20

Freezing Trap, Disengage, Aspect of the Viper, Riding (75), Charge (pet) ...I've hit the mother load!

Aspect of the Run Fast

The low level speed boosts seem so cheesy now. I know that "Aspect of the Run Fast" (level 16) still precedes Riding (75) by four levels, but in terms of playtime that's not very much. There was something cool about being one of the few classes with a speed advantage before 40. I guess it is still an advantage indoors through to 80, but Dekan will be outside for the majority of quests. Oh well, in four levels I do have a Celestial Steed waiting :P

As much as I hate it...

I really really wanted to level as marks or survival, since BM has been the stereotypical noob spec. Unfortunately, due to the lack of spells at low levels, my best solution to a multi-mob scenario is currently to have my (still unnamed) boar tank one mob as I kite another. So, as much as I hate it, I might as well beef up my pet and level BM. ...for now at least.

Level 10

The one to ten grind on a hunter is so slow! My eyes were glued to an autoshot timer, as I shot and then ran away, shot and then ran away... At level six you get Arcane Shot, and then Concussive Shot for easy-mode kiting at eight.

Finally, at ten I could do the class quest to learn to tame beasts. I tamed a boar. I have not named it yet--feel free to comment or e-mail with suggestions. Also at ten, I received ten achievement points. [Insert fake excitement here.] If only those were useful for something... anything... please?

A brief explanation

It just so happened that annoyance with player reliance on gear score and boredom coincided the other day. So, I rolled Dekan. She is a Draenai hunter, who's name is "naked" backwards. I am going to attempt to make it to 80 without equipping any armor. This certainly does not mean that I expect to out dps those with a higher gear score, which should be everyone due to my lack of gear. My intent is to attempt something crazy and perhaps demonstrate that knowledge of class mechanics is both useful and important.

I will likely be cursing this later, but I have rolled on a PvP server. It felt like a cheat to do otherwise. Additionally, since I am staying quite literal to the character's name I selected an RP realm. I figured, "What the heck, why not?" Since I have never before rolled on an RP server, I don't know what shenanigans to expect--I'll keep you posted.
